Your decision to be baptized is one of the most important decisions you will make in your journey with Jesus Christ. Baptism is for anyone who has believed that Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected. It is for those who have invited Jesus Christ into the center of their life. Baptism is simply an outward expression of something that has happened on the inside. It's not about joining a local church or denomination. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 2:41 Baptism is an outward expression of your inward commitment to follow Jesus Christ. It is an indication you have decided to be publicly identified as a Christ follower. It is a decision you are making to walk in the will of God. You are stating, "Life is no longer going to be determined by what I want, but by what God wants to do with my life". You are declaring to God and the world... "I'm living for Jesus." Being baptized in water expresses you are buried with Christ when you go under the water you are saying by faith, "Jesus, thank you for washing away my sins." When you are raised out of the water you are declaring by faith, "Jesus, with your help, I am determined to live new life in a new way". Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Rom 6:4 NAS ...having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. Col 2:12 NAS Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Cor 5:17 KJV To hear a recording on baptism by Nelson Searcy, click here |
